It was the summer of 2007 when the two met. Sidenyia Dowe, one of two girl's born to a Jamaican family, was celebrating her graduation from Hillcrest High School. It was a small affair with close friends and family, but one of the guest attendees would be the reason her life would change forever...

Steven Ulysse, the oldest of 4 siblings, accompanied his cousin, Guichard, to a summer event. Labeled as a celebratory bbq, Steven was looking for nothing more than to have a good time. Little did he know, this would be the night that he would meet Sidenyia -- his future soulmate.

"Her smile was the first thing I noticed," said Steven. Both he and Sidenyia were not yet acquainted, but with Guichard being a mutual friend, it wasn't long before the two were introduced. "He was a handsome man. Tall, with a pretty cocoa brown complexion. I asked all my friends who he was..." said Sidenyia.

After that night, the two began to spend time with each other, with their first date taking place at Baskin Robbins. Sidenyia still remembers the ice cream flavors that they had. She had pralines and cream while he enjoyed cookies and cream on a waffle cone. This would be the first of many dates between the two. After years of laughs, adventure, and deepened feelings, eventually, their friendship blossomed into a relationship.

Although very nervous, when the time came, the emotions that hit Steven made the moment worth it. As he got down on one knee and held on to the hand of his teary-eyed girlfriend, he too began to cry as he asked the woman of his dreams, "Sidenyia, will you marry me?" Too emotional and shocked to verbally respond, Sidenyia simply nodded her head up and down, as she grabbed her now fiancé to his feet with a tight embrace...

As the years went by I began to fall more and more in love with this girl. I don't know when it happened but it just came to me. I just knew. I started looking at her differently. All the things I wanted was sitting right in front of me. I saw her being my wife, my best friend and the mother of my kids," said Steven. And with that vision, Steven began taking the necessary steps to turn his dream into reality.

With Sidenyia having an avid interest in Pinterest, Steven was able to figure out her dream ring style without her having to provide clues. Unbeknownst to her, he had purchased the ring and held on to it for months before the proposal.
